Event Schedule

RACE CATEGORIES

With 5 different adult categories and the Kids Dash, everyone can run at SCSM 2018. Check out all the benefits you’ll get by joining us for the Race of the Year on 8-9 December 2018.

Marathon (42.195km) – 9 December 4.30AM – F1 Pit

The marathon is a considerable distance and should only be taken up by runners who are committed to several months of dedicated training. Individuals who are new to the sport of running may wish to start with a shorter distance and then move up to a marathon once confident they can safely complete the 42.195km.

Elevation Profile

Total Gain: 274 metres
Maximum Elevation: 56 metres
Start Elevation: 4 metres

Getting to the Start Line

Train services will not be available during the early hours of Sunday, 9 December.
To ensure a smooth journey to the Race Start for all runners, SCSM has partnered with ShareTransport to provide bus-pooling services from 47 pick-up locations.
Marathon runners may choose between the 2am or 3am shuttle service and may be purchased at S$6.
Terms & Conditions Apply.

Half Marathon (21.1km) – 9 December 4.30am – F1 Pit

The 21.1km, while requires a less serious level of training, also brings with it its own set of challenges. Many runners use the Half Marathon as a stepping stone towards the Marathon but it’s a very testing run in its own right. Some of the world’s best long distance runners focus their careers on the half and are able to set some incredible average speeds in this category. The Half Marathon is a perfect run for those looking to step up from the 10km and test the long distance discipline.

[toggle title=”About Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon”]

The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) has established itself as the marquee running event on Singapore’s sporting calendar. Every first Sunday of December, thousands of participants from all walks of life run past some of Singapore’s iconic landmarks such as Garden by the Bay or the Esplanade. Marathon runners also get to soak up the festive atmosphere as they run under the twinkling lights of Orchard Road.

In 2016, SCSM retained its Gold Label status by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), placing it among the company of the world’s elite races such as the New York City Marathon and the London Marathon. As the highlight of Singapore’s running calendar, the Marathon has helped grow the running culture in Singapore. It began with just 6,000 runners in 2002, reaching a peak of 65,000 runners in 2011. In 2012, the theme – “Run for a Reason” – was introduced to encourage all runners to submit their individual reasons for taking part in the Marathon.

2018 marks the 17th anniversary the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon and we are set to once again feature three different routes for the Marathon, Half Marathon and 10km. Introducing a new race category for the first time in 2018 – 5KM run encourages a step-up from Kids Dash and to those who aspire to lead a healthy lifestyle. The Kids Dash also offers aspiring little runners the chance to experience the Marathon, while the Ekiden promises to foster both teamwork and strategic planning among a team of five runners completing the Marathon in a relay format.
