This year, Singapore’s iconic countdown event, Marina Bay Singapore Countdown (MBSC) 2021, takes on a different format to bring people from all walks of life together to reflect on 2020 and to celebrate our hopes and aspirations for the coming year.
Shine a Light
Witness 60 light beams illuminate the night sky above The Promontory for Shine a Light! Designed to symbolize unity, positivity, and resilience, the display represents a guiding beacon that underpins Singapore’s spirit.
Display Schedule for Shine a Light
Shine a Light @ The Promontory
Tuesday, 1 – 31 December 2020 | 8 pm – 10.30 pm daily (extended to 11.45 pm on 31 December)
A 3-minute animated light sequence will play every 15 minutes, with the last show at 10.30 pm (last show at 11.45 pm on 31 December).
Share the Moment
This edition of Share the Moment is inspired by stories from the City of Good – a vision where individuals, organizations, and leaders come together to give their best for others. In a collaborative effort with local schools, a dedicated group of students volunteered their time to participate in a series of masterclasses to co-create works of art inspired by these stories of good. The artworks were then adapted for the projection mapping shows that will light up the Marina Bay precinct.
From 25 to 31 December 2020, watch as the vision for Singapore to be a “City of Good” comes to life nightly on the facades of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, the Merlion and ArtScience Museum (26 December to 31 December 2020 only) and celebrate moments in the past year where outstanding givers came together to uplift others in the community.
Heartland Fireworks
As safety remains a priority in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no fireworks display at Marina Bay on 31 December 2020 to minimize crowds from gathering in the precinct. Instead, fireworks will be set off from different heartland locations across Singapore, bringing the Countdown experience closer to Singaporeans at home.
