The 5th Year Garden Beats Festival Anniversary, at Fort Canning Park - bigger than ever before!

We will be celebrating with up-and-coming artists who cross the bridges between indie, RnB and electro; eco-heroes sharing their inspiring stories in our Conscious Circle; and most importantly with all of you coming together with an open heart and curious mind.
We want to craft a special festival experience for the curious minds to dance all day feet in the grass, get playful during lawn games, find their inner zen, indulge in different cuisines and get inspired to make a meaningful green impact.
Celebrate the weekend with genre-defying tunes and immerse yourself in the festival atmosphere. Get your party shoes on and dance the night away with our eclectic mix of feel good rhythm featuring The Kooks, Black Coffee, Alina Baraz, Masego, Yung Bae, Alle Farben, Coran, Orio, Daryl C, Toppings and Bongomann.
GARDEN BEATS STAGE, 7.45 PM
Veterans in the English rock scene and a definite modern pop phenomenon, The Kooks is truly a force to be reckoned with. Having propelled into fame in the early 2000s, with a slew of Top Twenty hits such as ‘You Don’t Love Me’, ‘Naïve’, ‘She Moves In Her Own Way’ and a two million-selling debut album‘Inside In/Inside Out’ in 2006, they return with ‘Let’s Go Sunshine’ – a revival of the band’s musicality and sound.
The band transcends all boundaries across generations with their music and has left an impact for generations to come. Through the ups and downs, The Kooks have successfully established themselves as the UK rock band over the past decade.

Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, better known as Black Coffee, is no stranger in the industry. Defying genre clichés, this DJ and producer is set to break conventions, representing his South African roots. In just a matter of years, Black Coffee has become one of the top touring performers in the world.
From being nominated for the 2011 MTV Europe Awards in the Africa, India and Middle East category for Best Worldwide Act to highlight performances at Coachella, Tomorrowland, Black Coffee is truly a force to be reckoned with.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio to Russian parents, Alina Baraz has been around music all her life. Releasing her first single at only 19 years old, Baraz has her eyes set in pursuing her career as a singer and songwriter full time. She debuted her first project just a few years ago in 2015, Urban Flora, which garnered praises by the media and sat on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart for over 125 weeks, peaking at #2.
With a successful career track, Alina Baraz has pushed the boundaries with her latest project and album prelude, The Color of You, a major departure from her artistic comfort zone.

Jamaican-American singer, songwriter, rapper & multi-instrumentalist, Masego is a multi-talented artist with 2018 being his breakout year. Combining his own soul and sultry twist to R&B, hip-hop and dance tunes, Masego’s latest full-length album, Lady Lady is an epitome of that. Lady Lady is the pinnacle of Masego’s influences and experiences and it features artists like FKJ and SiR. From his humble beginnings of saxophone remixes on Soundcloud, Masego has come a long way and amassed a huge fan base globally with his unparalleled sound.
An established and successful German Artist, Alle Farben has made a name for himself in pop and dance music with over two million downloads just in Germany alone. He has played over 150 live shows and graced major festivals such as Tomorrowland and Lollapalooza. Alle Farben is well recognised as the “Best German Act” (MTV EMA 2017), “Best Single” (1Live Krone), “Best National Act” (ECHO Music Award) and more. Associated to funky & sample-heavy disco beats, LA-based producer Yung Baeincorporates his tunes with 80s Japanese City Pop to get the crowd grooving all night. Since his debut album BAE in 2014, Yung Bae’s fanbase from all over the world has increased through the support and collaborations with Mura Masa & Louis The Child. Don’t expect anything less than happy disco vibes with modern electronic beats in his latest work, B4E.
Coran Maloney is an aussie-born DJ with an undying love for groove heavy house and techno. Coran has skillfully held over 70 events in Bangkok since 2011 including Kolour, a feature event and Kolour In The Park, the first open-air techno festival. All about the music journey accompanied by long sets, Coran is ready to set a new experience in Asia.

Founder and Artistic Director of Fat Fish Familia, Orio Leshem originally from the homeland of Israel is known to host outrageous one-of-a-kind events that contributes to the life of a strong growing music culture throughout Singapore and the East.
His talent for setting a night's tone reflects on his special tastes of eclectic influences from world sounds of disco-funk, tribe and jungle coupled with uplifting all kind of House music with 80's & 90's flavours.
With Orio's desire to share music and love with the world, his contagious charisma and magnetic energy sets a pace that is known to be exciting and relatable to many. His innate ability to create a raw and authentic vibe with the crowd and enabling the feeling of freedom, is all a part of his magic.
Orio's character is displayed through his choice of music and inevitably fills the room on any occasion with light and joy through the likes of his surrealist vision. Over the years he has successfully created an array of event lineups that have included international top acts such as the team of Louie Vega, crew love, wolf + lamb, Nick Monaco, Red Axes, Jayda g, Eli Escobar & many more.
His more recognized line of events include, 'Delirious', 'The Island Party', 'The Lost Boys' and 'Strawberry Space'. Orio, more recently has opened for the world renowned bands Soul Clap, Gipsy Kings, Jungle, Brand new heavy, Incognito and will continue to move forward with various top industry performers in 2019.

As one of the core members of Darker Than Wax, Daryl C of has built up a solid presence behind the decks, delivering sonic chops by way of his signature funk, soul and jazz-inspired deep house and a mixed bag of house and disco beats.
A regular fixture in the circuit, he has played alongside international acts like Peggy Guo, Denis Sulta, DJ Boring, Jasper James, Demuja, Lars Vegas (Detroit Swindle), Dan Shake, Frits Wentink, Young Marco, Lauer, Kornel Kovacs, Luca Lozano, Christopher Rau, Max Graef, The Reflex and many others, at all the main night spots in Singapore (Headquarters, Kilo, Canvas, Kyo, Loof and Velvet Underground – Dance), as well as at iconic festivals in the region like Bestival Bali, Neon Lights, ZoukOut and Urbanscapes.
With notable residencies in Singapore at Headquarters, Tuff Club, Ce La Vi and Kilo Lounge, Daryl C keeps feet moving with his ever-evolving selection of tunes
ZEN GARDEN, 5.30 PM
Up-and-coming DJ Toppings is an exciting new presence in Singapore’s dance music scene. Co-founder and resident selector of Singapore-based party collective Ice Cream Sundays, Toppings has built his repertoire playing alongside some of Singapore’s most respected DJs, earning warm up slots for high-caliber international acts including Soul Clap, Jasper James, and Bosq. Since coming onto the scene, he has earned a name playing funk-filled sets at notable venues such as Headquarters, Tanjong Beach Club, Camp Kilo, The Great Escape, Potato Head, TUFF CLUB, Canvas, and Bar Rouge.
ZEN GARDEN, 5.30 PM
Purveyor of dweebchoons™, Nick Bong is a muso based in Singapore with a fascination for music of all sorts, both classic and fresh. Inspired by people like St. Germain, Motor City Drum Ensemble and J-Dilla, Nick began his venture into collecting music and making tunes as Bongomann.
Having recently made the jump back home after living in Melbourne, Australia for a few years, he’s been on a quest to cut his teeth and share the love in his motherland. He’s played in a bunch of bands at this point and was a bit of a rock pup in his formative years, but his mates know he’s got the funk and his mumma knows he’s got the soul.
Pack your picnic baskets, lay out the mats - it’s that time of the year! Nestled amidst the lush greenery of Fort Canning Park our Picnic Field hosts the perfect picturesque afternoon on the hill with your best friends.
Do your part in helping the environment by only using reusable packaging when bringing your picnic to the festival fields.
For those who don’t have the time to prep their own picnic, head to our foodpanda village pop-up stalls and enjoy an array of mouthwatering savoury treats from vegan to meat delights, ranging from Don Ho, Dumpling Darlings, Udders, Papi’s Tacos, Fat Prince, Kult Kafe and 25 Degrees.
There’s more than just music and food when it comes to GARDEN BEATS. Bring a piece of the festival home and get crafty in the wide selection of eco-workshops GARDEN BEATS has to offer.
Get crafty with Mural Lingo as they will be holding several workshops from creating your own personalised tote bags with stencil art, to participating in a live mural painting as well as making your very own colour pigments using raw pigments from various fruits, plants and foliage to create water colour paints.
Prefer a more relaxing vibe? Head over the the Flower Fortress of Total Acceptance and create your own unique natural aromatherapeutic DIY body mist hosted by experts from Utama Spice. There’s plenty of activities to go around!

Stencil Workshop for tote bags
‘Stencil Art with old cardboards’ encourages the use of unwanted cardboard to create stencil paintings with Garden Beats design elements. Stencil making is a popular technique in modern street art and this a great way to be introduced to spray street art, “get your hands on the cans” and take home some self-made artwork.
Drawing with natural pigments
The objective of the natural pigment making workshop is to be curious about nature and learn the ancient ways of creating various color pigments using what is around us. Participants will learn how to extract raw pigments/dyes from various fruits, plants and foliage to create watercolor paints.
Live Mural Painting
Often, live painting at events are made to seem distant, drawing a line between artist and the public; represented by a wall of paint cans. When we invite someone from the other side to join us, it becomes a social event. People chat to break the ice while painting adjacent sections; for that moment, we are on the same side of the same wall.
