Bukit Panjang Government High School

The school opened its doors on 11 January 1960 to the children of the rural folk comprising manual workers, small traders, and pig, vegetable and poultry farmers who lived in Bukit Panjang and the surrounding areas of Bukit Gombak, Mandai and Woodlands. It made history as the first integrated government secondary school in Singapore. The challenge for the school was to foster integration between the English and Chinese educated students – something it did with panache and imagination through extra-curricular activities such as folk dancing.

CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls' School (Secondary)

In the 1930s, the Chinese population in Singapore was increasing rapidly. The Infant Jesus sisters decided to establish a Chinese-medium primary school to provide education for Chinese girls. On 16 January 1933, Victoria Girls’ School started in the building that used to be Hotel van Wijk. There were forty pupils and a Chinese teacher. Sister Solong was its first Principal. The school was later renamed St Nicholas Girls’ School.

Between 1938 and 1939, the school opened its first secondary class and a teacher-training section to ensure a pool of qualified teachers.

Chua Chu Kang Secondary School

The school started in 1992, with a staff of 10 teachers and the founding Principal, Miss Sum Chee Wah. The pioneer batch of 318 students joined the school in 1993, and they were placed in 5 Express and 3 Normal (Academic) classes. Most of the students were from the Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Batok and Bukit Panjang neighbourhood. The school motto, school badge and school song were crafted by the Principal, teachers and students.

The school was officially opened on 8 April 1995 by Associate Professor Low Seow Chay. In 1996, Mrs Teo Khin Hiang took over the helm and the first batch of graduating students sat for the GCE 'O' and 'N' level examinations.

Tampines Secondary School opened in 1986. In our first year, classes functioned at Pasir Ris Secondary School as the school building was still under construction. We later occupied by Tampines Junior College till December 1986.

Tanglin Integrated Secondary Technical School was officially declared open by Mr. Ong Pang Boon, Minister of Education, on 16th October 1964.
