Labour Day is an annual holiday to celebrate the achievements of workers.
Labour Day has its origins in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest.
In Singapore you can enjoy events, sales and spend time with family; there are picnics, performances, activities for small children, souvenirs and refreshments.
At the Istana, the residence of the President of Singapore, the 100-acre grounds and some buildings are open to the public and worth a visit.
ISTANA NATURE GUIDED WALK

This guided walk is a collaboration between the President’s Office and the National Parks Board (NParks), which will showcase the Istana’s flora, fauna and biodiversity.
The guided walk starts from 10am to 4pm, and is conducted hourly. Please look out for signs on the Istana grounds to find out where you can register for the guided walk.

$2.00 child | $4 Singaporeans / PRs | $10.00 foreigners
JOURNEY TO SPACE AT THE ISTANA
Wednesday 1st May 2019 for Journey to Space @The Istana and participate in these exciting activities and more!
– Observe the Sun using telescope* and binoculars* fitted with special filters.
[WARNING: Looking at the sun directly without protective wear/equipment is dangerous and can cause eye damage.]
– Play with 2 different types of Artificial Intelligence cars.
– Launch water rockets into the air at the Istana lawn.
*Solar telescope and solar binoculars are available at specific timings and weather permitting.
