The Vocal Consort (TVC) was founded in Sep-2001 by renowned local choral conductor Prof. Nelson Kwei with the aim of being a leading community choir in Singapore for the public to share their love for singing. Affiliated with Siglap South Community Centre and Choral Association (Singapore), TVC is established as one of Singapore’s premier choral groups with talented members ranging from students to working professionals.
In 2015, TVC collaborated with Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) for the SG50 Gala Concert, performing a newly-commissioned patriotic work titled《新加坡颂》or Song of Singapore. TVC was invited to join SCO again in 2016 for their premiere of The Journey of Lee Kan, written by acclaimed composer Dick Lee.
In Dec 2012, TVC was invited to perform at a feature concert in Lionel Wendt Arts Centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka. In Jan-2016, the choir was invited to perform at the 33rd Korean Symposium on Choral Music and International Choral Music Festival in Jeju, South Korea. The Vocal Consort also competed in the 1st Tokyo International Choral Competition (2018), achieving two Gold Awards, Category Champion and the Best Interpretation Prize for Baroque Music.
