LIGHT TO NIGHT FESTIVAL 2019
TRACES AND ECHOES

18 Jan–24 Feb 2019
5pm–midnight

FREE ADMISSION

Light to Night Festival returns to the Civic District with an enhanced, six-week festival! Our annual urban art event comprises two editions this year, spanning the indoor and outdoor areas of National Gallery Singapore, The Arts House, Asian Civilisations Museum, the Esplanade Park, Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall.

Art Week Edition

18–27 Jan 2019
The Art Week Edition explores contemporary art and ideas inspired by the Civic District’s histories and stories. The works presented in this edition respond to the theme “Traces and Echoes.”

Bicentennial Edition

28 Jan–24 Feb 2019
The Bicentennial Edition reflects on the nation’s journey through artworks that reimagine our past. These offer fresh perspectives on significant moments in our history that remain deeply emotional for many.

Experience brand new indoor art installations and discover specially curated art programmes that will keep you intrigued from day to night.

One festival, two unique experiences.

This year's festival comprises 2 editions for Art Week (18 Jan - 27 Jan) and Singapore's Bicentennial (28 Jan - 24 Feb).

The Art Week Edition offers a contemporary lens that explores and references art and ideas that are closely linked with the Civic District site, inspired by histories and stories, in response to the theme of Traces and Echoes.

1ST WEEKEND FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS (18 Jan onwards)

ART TRAIL

Discover and experience special public art commissions around the Civic District with the return of Arts Skins on Monuments by Brandon Tay and Safuan Johari on the facades of the National Gallery, The Arts House, Victoria Theatre & Victoria Concert Hall, and the Asian Civilisations Museum! Explore outdoor installations fashioned by Tell Your Children and MessyMsxi around The Arts House featuring works inspired by a range of familiar fantasies and spellbinding stories. Other commissions at ACM Green will respond to the museum's collection and history while Kaylene Tan and Ben Slater’s audio installation, Under the Five Trees at Esplanade Park will combine sound, music, poetry, narrative and landscape design to explore the area’s rich background.

EXHIBITION

Visit the Common Life exhibition at The Arts House, featuring sketches by Ho Chee Lick paired with poems by Anne Lee Tzu Pheng, which will take you on a visual and poetic journey across scenes of everyday life in Singaporean neighbourhoods, and unlock new dimensions to experiencing sound in a tactile music installation by FERRY in SKY KAVE.
