The Druk Wangyel Tshechu is a unique festival performed by the Royal Bhutan Army rather than monks or lay people.

It is a tribute to the wise leadership of His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the Fourth King of Bhutan. It also celebrates the continuous efforts of the Royal Bhutan Army in protecting the sovereignty and the stability of the country. This one of a kind tshechu is performed against the backdrop of the magnificent Jigme Singye Wangchuck mountain range.
Dochula Druk Wangyel Tshechu is an one day annual event and the venue of the Festival at Dochula Mountain Pass 3150m.
The Tshechu is introduced by Her Majesty Gyalyum Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck and dedicated for the Peace and Happiness of the Kingdom and World at large. It is also Bhutanese peoples dedication to The Great Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Singye Wangchuck who sacrificed his own life for the people of Bhutan and sovereignty of the Kingdom lead the Bhutanese military operation in Southern Bhutan to flush out the Indian Militants, the mission was a big success.
The Dochula Druk Wangyel Tshechu was to celebrate the victory of Bhutan Forces and to flourish Buddhism. The Festival Dances are mostly performed by Monks but also modern choreographed warrior dances are also performed. This is truly special and unique Festival and you will definitely enjoy it as such kind of unique festival doesn’t exist anywhere in the world.
